#FlashbackFriday

In this week’s #FlashbackFriday, we take a look back into one of the many fun housing banquets our departments hosts every semester! It’s a good feeling knowing that even 10 years ago, our housing family was just as… interesting… as we are now šŸ™‚ Read more about UNT back in 2004 here!

Happy Halloween, everyone!

RLT

Spring training was a success!

Every semester, all the housing staff moves back early to get some refreshers and information that will help them be better at their jobs and better serve our students. From the delicious welcome breakfast in the Gateway Center to “Give ‘Em the Pickle” to Behind Closed Doors, everyone had a great time, learned a lot, and we are happy to have the new class of RLA rookies in the housing fam! 32 new faces to welcome residents and build community in the halls!

Congrats also goes out to some new and returning executive officers for our housing organizations! Can’t wait to see the awesome things they will do in our halls!

NRHH and RHA are excited about the No Frills regional conference coming up this February! They are working hard on bids to present to the region showcasing some great people and programs!

Some new additions to the housing fam this semester:

Virnin Bonner: He is the new Special Assistant for Spirit and Traditions. He co-advises RHA with Zach Kraft and Carmen Garza and is the man to go to for all of your cotton candy and karaoke machine needs. Virnin is a great coworker to have and adds a lot of positiveĀ energy, humor and motivation to Central. He lives at West and served as the hall association president at College Inn previously. He was also recently inducted into NRHH! Shoutout to Virnin for being the best!

Tsuki Smith: This rad new Special Assistant for Residence Life came to central from Bruce. She was an RA there for three semesters and is in the AFROTC. Tsuki presented a program at the RA Conference, SWACUHO, in October over her program “Zen Pencil Challenge.” It won a top 5 program and she did an amazing job! She is in charge of coordinating RLT and the selection process for new RLA’s. We love having her here in central and we love her perfect chihuahua Titan. Ā Ā

Denton Movie Tavern!

Hey, West Hall! Looks like y’all enjoyed the movie!

One of the coolest parts of RLT was a special treat given to the entire housing staff by the Movie Tavern up on 380. They gave all of us a free screening of Monsters University (perfect film for this audience) and a free dinner! There were even appetizers beforehand. It was an awesome way to build community with a local Denton business and they definitely showed us some great hospitality. Best part of the night? When the stereotypical, cheesy monster RA got on the screen to give Mike Wazowski his room key, all of the RA’s burst into cheering and applause. I guess you could say they love their job! It was hilarious and an awesome, small moment that reminds us why we love housing so much.Thank you to Movie Tavern for this awesome break from training and a great night. Y’all rock! (Did I mention they also gave us shirts? A+, 5 stars)
